United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called for an urgent de-escalation and immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and stated that the UN supports all efforts to achieve a just and inclusive peace.
Guterres wrote about this in his X-account on Sunday, February 23.
The UN Secretary General noted that February 24 marks three years since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the aggressor country of russia, which is a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law. Guterres stressed that a just and sustainable peace must prevail in Ukraine based on territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.
"Enough is enough. After three years of death and destruction, I once again call for urgent de-escalation and an immediate end to the hostilities. I welcome all efforts towards achieving a just and inclusive peace. The UN stands ready to support such efforts," the UN Secretary General stressed.
