Trump "very frustrated" with Zelenskyy – US National Security Adviser

U.S. President Donald Trump is "very frustrated" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy because he has not agreed to negotiations and has not "taken opportunity" of the peace offered by the United States, U.S. National Security Adviser Michael Waltz said at a briefing.

His words were quoted by The Guardian on Thursday, February 20.

"President Trump is obviously very frustrated right now with president Zelensky, the fact that that he hasn’t come to the table that he hasn’t been willing to take this opportunity that we have offered, I think he eventually will get to that point, and I hope so very quickly," Waltz said.

According to him, Trump is focused on stopping the fighting and "moving forward", which he has also made clear to his "Russian counterparts".

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 19, U.S. President Donald Trump said that elections should be held in Ukraine, as Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly has a low trust rating of 4%.

On February 20, Congressman Don Bacon (Republican Party) said that Trump "made a mistake" by calling President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "a dictator without elections".

Also on February 20, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres, Stéphane Dujarric, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would take office after elections that were properly held.
