Trump's statements about Zelenskyy do not reflect views of all Republicans - Congressman Bacon

Congressman Don Bacon (Republican Party) said that President Donald Trump "made a mistake" by calling President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "a dictator without elections." The Congressman also said that Trump's words do not reflect the views of the entire Republican Party.

This is reported by The Hill.

"The President needs a do-over day - and start again. He made a bad turn. I think what he said is wrong, and it’s a shame,” Bacon said, commenting on Trump's statements.

Bacon noted that Zelenskyy was elected democratically and that the country's constitution allows for postponing elections in the conditions of martial law, which was introduced due to the russian invasion.

"Many Republicans know what the President said today was wrong. Putin started this invasion. He is the dictator. He has killed all of his opponents. Zelenskyy was rightfully elected,” he said.

Bacon added that Trump should help end the war "in a right and noble way."

"We’re standing on the side of the dictator, not the side of democracy," the Republican said.

Recall that Trump previously stated that elections should be held in Ukraine, since Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly has a very low level of support among citizens.

He also actually accused Zelenskyy of russia's attack on Ukraine.
