The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be replenished with new modern aircraft during 2025.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on Friday, February 14, following the results of the meeting of the Air Forces Coalition in Brussels, Ukrainian News reports.
Umerov noted that the participating states of the initiative have pledged to strengthen Ukrainian aviation.
According to him, during the current year, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive new modern combat aircraft.
In parallel, the training of pilots to fly Western-style aircraft is underway.
"Special thanks to the Netherlands and France for the recent transfer of F-16 and Mirage-2000," – Umerov emphasized.
The Defense Minister emphasized that the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense is being carried out in close cooperation with partners.
The meeting was organized by the Minister of Defense of Denmark Troels Lund Poulsen and the Head of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands Ruben Brekelmans.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 6, France delivered the first Mirage 2000 fighters to Ukraine.
On August 4, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially confirmed the arrival of the first F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.
On July 10, 2024, the U.S. Department of State announced that Denmark and the Netherlands had begun transferring F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.
