Ukrainian Air Fleet strengthened by French Mirage 2000 and Dutch F-16 fighters – Zelenskyy

Ukrainian Air Fleet was strengthened by French Mirage 2000 and F-16 fighters from the Netherlands.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on X, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Ukrainian Air Fleet continues to expand. The first Mirage 2000 fighters from France have already arrived, which will strengthen the capabilities of our air defense... Thanks to the latest deliveries, we continue to increase the fleet of F-16 fighters, and the Netherlands continues to fulfill its obligations to support these efforts," he said.

Zelenskyy thanked partners for their support.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also reported on his Facebook page that the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received a long-awaited reinforcement – the first French Mirage 2000 and F-16 fighters from the Netherlands.

"These modern combat vehicles are already in Ukraine and will soon begin performing combat missions, strengthening our defense and ability to effectively resist Russian aggression," the Minister noted.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu reported on X that the first French Mirage 2000 fighters are already in Ukraine.

The first F-16s from the Netherlands arrived in Ukraine in October 2024, the second batch of F-16s from Denmark arrived in Ukraine in December, in total, Denmark is going to transfer nineteen F-16 fighters to Ukraine.

On August 4, 2024, Zelenskyy officially confirmed the arrival of the first F-16s to Ukraine. The planes were publicly displayed that day. At the time, The Economist reported that the first ten F-16s had arrived in Ukraine on July 31.
