Russia shot down Azerbaijani plane with Pantsir-S missile in December – Reuters

The Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane, which crashed on December 25 after being diverted from the aggressor country of russia to Kazakhstan, was hit by the russian Pantsir-S air defense system. A source in the Azerbaijani government said this, Reuters reported on Tuesday, February 4.

"The Azerbaijani side possesses a fragment of a Pantsir-S missile which was extracted from the aircraft and identified through international expertise," the source said.

Reuters recalled that 38 people were killed as a result of the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 26, Euronews wrote that the Embraer 190 plane crashed as a result of being hit by a missile fired from the air defense complex of the army of the aggressor country of russia.

According to the Azerbaijani news channel AnewZ, the russians refused to allow the damaged plane to land at three of their airports. Instead, they advised the crew to fly to Aktau in western Kazakhstan, near which it crashed.

On December 26, the Azerbaijani parliament called on russia to admit its involvement in the plane crash and apologize for the incident.

On December 27, Azerbaijan Airlines said that its Embraer 190 plane, which crashed in Kazakhstan on December 25, had suffered physical and technical external interference before the crash.
