Embraer 190 plane crashed after being hit by anti-aircraft missile, plane was hit the Pantsir-S air defense system - media

The passenger plane Embraer 190 of the Azerbaijan Airlines airline, which crashed on December 25 in the Kazakh city of Aktau, was shot down by a missile fired by a russian anti-aircraft missile system.

This was reported by Euronews, citing unnamed sources in the Azerbaijani government.

The channel's interlocutors said on condition of anonymity that the missile was fired at the plane during an attack by Ukrainian drones on Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic.

They also reported that the damaged plane was not allowed to land at airports in russia, despite the pilots' request for an emergency landing. Russian controllers ordered the pilots to fly to Aktau via the Caspian Sea.

Azerbaijani English-language news channel AnewZ reported, citing sources, that the results of the preliminary investigation showed that a missile was fired at the plane from the Pantsir-S air defense system. Such systems are in service with the russian armed forces.

In addition, the use of electronic warfare systems by the russians paralyzed the plane's communication system. This is why the plane disappeared from radar in russian airspace and appeared on screens only in the Caspian Sea area.

In the first hours after the crash, versions were actively discussed on the Internet that the plane had crashed due to birds or an oxygen cylinder explosion.

However, later videos and photos appeared on the Internet, showing that the plane's skin was covered with holes that would have been left if the plane had been hit by an anti-aircraft missile.

Recall, the russian online publication Agentstvo. Novosti reported that the russian authorities are trying to hide the fact of the attack by Ukrainian UAVs on Chechnya and North Ossetia on the day of the plane crash, because it may indicate the involvement of the RUSSIAN FEDERATION in the plane crash.

We also wrote that Kazakhstan, on whose territory the plane crashed, will probably have to involve experts from the International Aviation Committee (IAC) in the investigation of the plane crash.
