Ukroboronprom and Polish Armaments Group sign cooperation agreement

The Ukrainian Defense Industry joint stock company (formerly Ukroboronprom) and the Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, PGZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.

This was announced by the Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The signing of the memorandum took place on February 3.

"A truly important document. It outlines agreements between the defense industries of Ukraine and Poland on cooperation. In particular, it concerns the production of ammunition, maintenance of armored vehicles and artillery, as well as strengthening the air defense sector," the minister said.

Smetanin added that it is planned to develop financial mechanisms to attract instruments and funds provided for by the European Defense Industrial Strategy (EDIS) and the European Defense Industrial Program (EDIP).

He thanked the Polish government for facilitating cooperation between the countries' defense industries at a high level.

Smetanin noted that the Ukrainian defense industry currently has a huge need for explosives, critical components, as well as for deepening cooperation not just at the level of defense companies - but also at the level of industries.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 3, Poland's Deputy Minister of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk, arrived in Kyiv, in particular, in order to discuss strengthening mutual cooperation, accompanied by the leadership of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and its member companies.

In August 2024, Poland signed a contract with Raytheon Polska and PGZ Huta Stalowa Wola for the production of 48 launchers for Patriot.
