US President Donald Trump signed a decree appointing Keith Kellogg as his special envoy to Ukraine and russia.
The Voice of America reported this on February 4.
The decree appointing Kellogg was one of five that the American leader signed last Monday, February 3.
"We have made significant progress on russia, Ukraine. We will see what happens. But significant progress has been made. We must stop this senseless war," Trump said, signing the decree appointing Kellogg.
It is noted that as of now, the White House has not yet published the decrees signed by Trump on Monday.
Recall, in late November 2024, Donald Trump announced that retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg would take the position of special envoy to Ukraine and russia.
During Trump's first term, Kellogg was responsible for defense policy for some time, and then former Vice President Mike Pence appointed him as his national security adviser.
In December, Kellogg said that Ukraine and russia were ready for negotiations to end the war, and that only Trump was capable of ending the conflict.
The day before, Kellogg said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had confirmed his readiness to make territorial concessions during possible negotiations with russian dictator vladimir putin.
And yesterday, February 3, the Ukrainian publication NV reported, citing sources, that after February 11, Kellogg intends to visit Kyiv to meet with Zelenskyy.
