Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that he allegedly offered President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a new date and place for a meeting to discuss the cessation of russian gas transit. According to him, Kyiv allegedly never responded.
Fico wrote about this on Facebook.
According to him, Bratislava has been offering Kyiv a meeting in Davos (Switzerland) on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum for several days.
"Apart from the childish invitation to Kyiv, Zelenskyy has not yet responded to this proposal," Fico claims.
He added that the meeting in Davos "may unravel the future" of relations between Ukraine and Slovakia.
How it all started
On January 13, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico approached Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a proposal to hold a meeting to discuss the cessation of russian gas transit through Ukraine to Europe.
Fico proposed to organize a meeting on the border between Slovakia and Ukraine.
In the evening of the same day, Zelenskyy responded to Fico's proposal, but invited the Slovak Prime Minister to meet in Kyiv on Friday, January 17.
The very next day, January 14, the Vice Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Tibor Gašpar stated that Fico was not going to go to Kyiv to meet with Zelenskyy.
At the same time, on January 16, Fico said in a conversation with journalists that he might meet with Zelenskyy in the coming days.
