Lavrov says that russia will lift moratorium on medium- and short-range missiles

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow intends to lift the moratorium on the deployment of medium- and short-range missiles that can be equipped with nuclear warheads.

Lavrov said this in an interview with the russian publication RIA Novosti.

According to Lavrov, this decision is due to the fact that the United States began to deploy such missiles, despite warnings from russia and China.

He noted that the United States, ignoring warnings, began to deploy missiles of this class in different parts of the world. As an example, Lavrov cited the strike of the Oreshnik missile on the territory of Ukraine, calling it a "practical test".

When asked about russia's possible withdrawal from the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty before its expiration in 2026, Lavrov said that the moratorium on the deployment of medium- and short-range missiles has already lost its relevance and will have to be abandoned.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the evening of November 21, russian dictator vladimir putin said that the russian army allegedly used a new missile called Oreshnik to strike the city of Dnipro.

A few days after the russian strike, journalists were shown the fragments of the Oreshnik missile found at the "arrival" site in Dnipro.

The strike on Dnipro was carried out by an "empty" missile, which was equipped with mock-ups of warheads without explosives.
