Ukraine to receive another USD 3 billion in aid from Japan, secured by frozen russian assets

The Japanese government has decided to provide Ukraine with an additional USD 3 billion in aid secured by the frozen assets of the aggressor country, russia.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on December 25.

According to Zelenskyy, today [December 25] he had a telephone conversation with the new Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba.

The President thanked the head of the Japanese government for the large-scale financial and humanitarian assistance that Tokyo has provided to Kyiv since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion. During this time, Ukraine has received USD 12 billion.

Zelenskyy also told the Japanese Prime Minister about the massive russian missile attack on energy infrastructure that they carried out on Christmas night.

He thanked Ishiba for the decision to provide Ukraine with another USD 3 billion in aid secured by frozen russian assets.

As a reminder, in the fall of 2024 it became known that Japan, within the framework of the G7 agreements, will provide Ukraine with a loan of JPY 472 billion. It will be repaid from the proceeds from frozen russian assets.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 17, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced that Ukraine will produce Japanese pickup trucks.
