Oreshnik missile that hit Dnipro was made 6-7 years ago. Putin called it "latest" - media

A study of the fragments of the Oreshnik ballistic missile, which the russians used to hit the city of Dnipro on November 21, 2024, showed that it was assembled approximately 6-7 years ago.

The Defense Express portal reported this with reference to sources.

One of the missile parts has a serial number and production date of April 12, 2017.

Defense Express noted that this indicates that this particular missile was assembled in 2017-2018. After that, the missile was in one of the russian army warehouses.

"Russian dictator Putin lied when he said that this was some kind of new development that had just been created," the portal noted.

The year of manufacture of the part corresponded to the russians' plans to begin mass production of the RS-26 Rubezh missile complex, which is seen as the real Oreshnik.

It is noted that this also means that the development of the missile began long before 2017. The portal suggested that its development could have begun at the beginning of the last decade.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the evening of November 21, russian dictator vladimir putin said that the russian army allegedly used a new missile called Oreshnik to strike Dnipro.

As we will recall, a few days after the russian strike, journalists were shown the fragments of the Oreshnik missile found at the "hit" site in Dnipro.

We also wrote that the strike on Dnipro was carried out by an "empty" missile, which was equipped with mock-ups of warheads without explosives.
