US warns that it will consider introduction of North Korean soldiers into territory of Ukraine as escalation

The potential introduction of North Korean soldiers into Ukraine to participate in hostilities will be regarded by the US as an escalation.

This was reported by the representative of the US Department of State Matthew Miller on Monday at a briefing.

"The North Korean soldiers deployed near Kursk are legitimate targets. They entered the war, and as combatants they are legitimate targets for the Ukrainian military," said the representative of the US Department of State Matthew Miller on Monday at a briefing.

He noted that the American side is aware that some of the North Korean soldiers were killed on the battlefield in the Kursk Oblast.

"And if they cross the border with Ukraine, this will be considered an additional escalation on the part of the russian government, as well as on the part of the North Korean government," Miller noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 16, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that units of the North Korean army suffered significant losses in the Kursk Oblast.

On December 2, the representative of the Defense Intelligence Andrii Cherniak stated that about two thousand servicemen of the North Korean army are already in the combat units of the russian occupation army.

On November 22, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andrii Kovalenko reported that the aggressor state of russia has transferred part of the North Korean military to the border areas of the Belgorod Oblast.
