Poland announces that its air defense systems will shoot down missiles only over NATO countries

The air defense systems transferred to Poland will protect the airspace of NATO countries. This includes the need to protect the logistics hub used to deliver aid to Ukraine.

This was stated by Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

The minister commented on the deployment of F-35 aircraft and NASAMS and Patriot anti-aircraft systems in Poland. They will be transferred by Norway and Germany. He also emphasized that other allies will support Poland throughout the year. According to him, a whole security plan for Poland is ready.

Kosiniak-Kamysz added that Western systems will protect the airspace of NATO countries.

"Poland is a front-line country. There have been airspace violations in Poland, Romania and Latvia. We need to strengthen airspace protection," the minister noted.

At the same time, the head of the Defense Ministry called the situation with the russian air strikes on Ukraine "dramatic".

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 1, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's words that Poland had not handed over the rest of its MiG aircraft and did not want to shoot down the missiles of the aggressor country of russia over Ukraine.

On November 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the words of Polish Vice Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, who accused Zelenskyy of trying to drag Poland into a war with the aggressor country of russia.

As a reminder, on August 30, the Polish Ministry of Defense refused to shoot down russian missiles and drones over the territory of Ukraine.
