No signs that russia preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine - Pentagon

Russia's decision to change its nuclear doctrine did not surprise US officials.

This was stated at a briefing on November 19, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh.

She pointed out that Moscow has signaled its intention to update its nuclear doctrine over the past few weeks.

"This is the same irresponsible rhetoric that we have seen before and that we have seen, frankly, for the last two years. So this is something that we will continue to watch. But we do not see any signs that russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, and we do not see any changes that need to be made to our own nuclear position," Singh said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, putin approved the updated russian nuclear doctrine, which now allows the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine.

The updated doctrine provides that the basis for a nuclear strike may be “aggression against the russian federation and its allies by any non-nuclear state with the support of a nuclear state,” as well as a massive air attack by non-nuclear means, including drones.

Ukraine plans to carry out its first long-range missile attacks on the territory of the aggressor country of russia at a great distance in the coming days.
