Thanks to agreement with ICEYE, AFU will have access to high-precision space images with full coverage of territory of hostilities - Umerov

The Ministry of Defense agreed with the leader in the field of SAR-satellites, the ICEYE company, now the Ukrainian military will have access to high-precision space images with full coverage of the combat area.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The Ministry of Defense has signed a strategically important contract with the ICEYE company - a leader in the field of SAR satellites. Thanks to this contract, our military will have access to high-precision space images with full coverage of the combat area. The command will be able to independently determine priority surveillance areas and quickly receive up-to-date data through the satellite system ICEYE," he said.

Umerov noted that this agreement was made possible thanks to the support of the German government and the Rheinmetall concern, which was a party to the contract.

"By introducing advanced space intelligence technologies, we are creating a technological advantage that increases combat capability and protects our military," he emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the German arms concern Rheinmetall and the SAR ICEYE satellite company began to transmit new satellite images to Ukraine in September of this year.

In July, the Ministry of Defense signed a memorandum with one of the world leaders in the field of satellite technologies, the Finnish company ICEYE, on deepening cooperation in the field of space exploration.

In June, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense reported that thanks to the "people's satellite" ICEYE, which was purchased by the Serhii Prytula Foundation, the Defense Intelligence took 4,200 pictures of russian military facilities, some of which were used for attacks by the Defense Forces.
