Russians begin to use Shaheds with thermobaric warheads for attacks on Ukraine - ISW

The russian occupation forces introduced new modifications to kamikaze drones. In particular, the aggressor state of russia began using Shahed-136 attack drones with thermobaric warheads.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Thus, analysts refer to the message of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, which reported on October 29 that the wreckage of the Shahed-136 drones used by the russians in a series of strikes from October 26 to 29 indicates that the russian troops modified the drones for use thermobaric warheads.

In addition, Ruselectronics, a subsidiary of russian state defense conglomerate Rostec, said on October 30 that it had developed a radio-absorbing coating for russia's TOS-1A Solntsepyok thermobaric artillery systems. This coating makes the system "invisible" to modern guidance systems and thermal imagers.
