It became known who will replace Kostin as Prosecutor General

After the dismissal of Andrii Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General, his duties will be performed by his first deputy Oleksii Khomenko.

This was told to the Ukrainian News Agency by MP from the Servant of the People faction, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy, Denys Maslov.

"The duties of the Prosecutor General will be performed by the first deputy," he said.

Khomenko is holding the position of Deputy Prosecutor General from January 26, 2023.

Before that, from September 2022, he was the deputy prosecutor general, and earlier he worked as the head of the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Andrii Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General.

On October 22, after the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), which discussed the situation with the medical and social expert commissions and abuses in the prosecutor's office, Kostin announced that he was submitting an application for dismissal from his post.

On October 22, Zelenskyy held a meeting of the NSDC regarding the situation with the medical and social expert commissions and the abuse of disability by prosecutors, after which he declared that Kostin should bear political responsibility for the situation in the prosecutor's office.

Zelenskyy appointed the member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction Andrii Kostin as the Prosecutor General on July 28, 2022 after the Verkhovna Rada agreed to his appointment.
