The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has signed a decree on the dismissal of Andrii Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General.
This is stated in the text of Decree No. 745/2024, published on the president's website.
"Relieve Andrii Yevhenovych KOSTIN from the post of Prosecutor General," the document says.
On October 29, the Verkhovna Rada voted to dismiss Kostin from his post, the decision was supported by 255 parliamentarians.
On October 22, after the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, which discussed the situation with the medical and social expert commissions and abuses in the prosecution system of Ukraine, Kostin announced that he was submitting an application for resignation from his post.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 22, Zelenskyy held a meeting of the National Security Council regarding the situation with medical and social expert commissions and the abuse of disability by prosecutors, after which he declared that Kostin should bear political responsibility for the situation in the prosecution system of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy appointed the Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction Andrii Kostin as the Prosecutor General on July 28, 2022 after the Rada agreed to his appointment.
