A small number of North Korean troops are already on the territory of Ukraine, and as the exercises in the east of the aggressor country of russia end, their number will increase.
CNN reported this with reference to two representatives of Western intelligence.
The number of North Korean troops in Ukraine is only expected to grow as those who complete their training move to the front lines. The publication writes that the presence of North Korean troops in Ukraine goes beyond what was confirmed by NATO and the Pentagon. Currently, North Korean servicemen are training in the east of russia, and some of them are heading to the Kursk Oblast of russia.
"A small number of North Korean troops are already in Ukraine, according to two Western intelligence officials, and officials expect that number to grow as the North Koreans complete training in eastern russia and move to the front lines of the war. It appears that many of them are already in action," said one of the officials regarding the North Korean military.
Many of these troops are special forces, the sources said, but North Korea's military has not fought in an actual war for more than 70 years, and intelligence officials believe the North Korean government sent them largely so they could gain combat experience.
CNN reports that Western officials believe that at least some of North Korea's military will leave their units once they enter the battlefield, and that the language barrier with the russians will be a significant obstacle to military operations.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 28, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte officially confirmed the deployment of North Korean troops in the Kursk Oblast of russia.
On October 24, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the first North Korean soldiers had already arrived in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation.
At the same time, the South Korean delegation will visit Ukraine to share information about the deployment of North Korean troops to russia.
