On the night of October 26-27, at 04:00 a.m., the hands of the clocks in Ukraine were moved back one hour. In this way, the transition to winter time took place, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Nowadays, electronic devices are set automatically, but on mechanical watches, the hands must be set back one hour manually. You can find out the exact time in Kyiv on the Time.is website.
It is worth noting that this time switch is supposed to be the last for Ukrainians, because on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada canceled the transition to summer time. At that time, a total of 261 parliamentarians voted for the Bill on Time Calculation in Ukraine, No. 4201, with the minimum required 226.
On August 21, the bill was signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, and on the same day it was sent to Volodymyr Zelenskyy for signature. However, the President never signed it.
In addition, on October 24, BBC Ukraine, citing sources close to Zelenskyy, reported that the President allegedly does not plan to sign a law cancelling the further seasonal time switch. Among the reasons for Zelenskyy's decision, journalist sources cited petitions by Ukrainians who opposed the cancellation of daylight saving time, as well as possible "losses of several billions."
"So, under such a scenario, Ukrainians will continue to switch to summer time in March, and to winter time in October," noted the journalists of the publication.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a petition to Volodymyr Zelenskyy to veto a law on cancelling the transition to daylight saving time has previously received the necessary votes.
