The Verkhovna Rada canceled the transition to summer time in Ukraine. A total of 261 MPs voted for the bill 4201, out of the minimum required 226, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, MP from the Holos faction, announced this on his Telegram channel.
According to the adopted decision, the seasonal change of time is not carried out on the territory of Ukraine. The law enters into force from January 1, 2025.
Accordingly, in autumn there will be the last transition from summer time to winter time.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine switched to summer time on the night of March 31, moving the hands of the clock forward by 1 hour.
The transition to winter and summer time takes place in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 509 dated May 13, 1996 "On the procedure for calculating time on the territory of Ukraine".
Every year, on the last Sunday of March at 3:00 a.m., the hands of the clock are moved forward by 1 hour, on the last Sunday of October (at 4:00 a.m.) - by 1 hour back.
In 2021, the issue of canceling summer time was raised in Ukraine.
In March 2021, the Verkhovna Rada sent the bill 4201 for finalization, which proposed to cancel the seasonal change of clocks. But after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation into Ukraine in February 2022, this issue was not discussed. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal supported the cancellation of daylight saving time.
