Zelenskyy still hasn't signed law on abolishing summer time. When Ukraine will switch to winter time?

The mass media mistakenly call the upcoming transition to winter time "the last" - Zelenskyy did not sign the corresponding law.

A number of Ukrainian mass media, reporting that Ukraine will switch to winter time on October 27 of this year, call this transition "the last", referring to the law on the cancellation of summer time in Ukraine, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the summer. But this is a mistake, because the corresponding bill has not yet been signed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Despite the fact that the bill No. 4201, according to which the transition to summer time is canceled, was adopted on July 16, and on August 21 it was signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk and sent to the President for signature on the same day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not yet signed it.

Although, in accordance with Article 94 of the Constitution, the President of Ukraine must sign the law sent to him within 15 days or return it to the parliament with substantiated and motivated proposals. If the President does not sign the document and send it to the parliament within the allotted time, the law is considered approved and must be signed and published.

59 days have passed since the document was presented to the head of state for signature.

According to the bill, it was supposed to enter into force on January 1, 2025. Accordingly, in this case, the transition to winter time would really be the last for Ukraine. However, if the document is not signed, then Ukrainians will switch to summer time again in the spring, and on the last Sunday of October next year, Ukraine will once again set the clocks back an hour.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the petition to Zelenskyy to veto the law on the cancellation of transition to the summer time has received the necessary votes.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, previously noted that after the cancellation of the transition to summer time, Ukraine will never again live in the same time zone with the aggressor country of russia.
