Oleh Huliak, who has been acting as the director general of Ukroboronprom since September, became the director general of the Ukrainian Defense Industry joint-stock company.
Ukroboronprom announced this on its Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The supervisory board of the Ukrainian Defense Industry joint-stock company has appointed Oleh Huliak to the position of the director general of the company," the message reads.
More than 20 people applied for the position of the head of Ukroboronprom.
The search and evaluation of candidates was carried out by the Ukrainian representative office of Odgers Berndtson, an international company specializing in the selection of top managers.
Three candidates made it to the shortlist.
The supervisory board conducted a final interview with them and decided on a candidate.
Representatives of the embassies of the United States, United Kingdom and Germany were involved in the interviews with the applicants from the shortlist.
" Oleh Huliak is well aware of the urgent needs of the military and is an experienced leader. The main tasks facing him now are to continue increasing production volumes, to complete the reform of the state defense industry sector and the construction of an effective anti-corruption infrastructure," said Herman Smetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries.
Huliak has been acting as the director general of Ukroboronprom since September.
Since July, Huliak worked as an adviser to the company's director general on military cooperation.
Huliak has been in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 1993.
He began his military career as the deputy commander of a reconnaissance company of an airmobile division; he is a participant in the russian-Ukrainian war.
In 2021-2024, he was the Commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in September, the supervisory board of the Ukrainian Defense Industry joint-stock company (formerly Ukroboronprom) appointed Huliak as the provisional director general.
In September, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Herman Smetanin, the director general of the Ukrainian Defense Industry JSC, as the Minister of Strategic Industries.
