The leadership of the aggressor country of russia will be able to delay the announcement of a new wave of mobilization thanks to the use of military personnel from North Korea (DPRK) in the war against Ukraine.
This is stated in a report by analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
ISW analysts believe that dictator vladimir putin intends to use the strategic partnership agreement, which the russian federation and North Korea signed in June 2024, to partially offset the needs of the russian army in terms of personnel.
This will make it possible to satisfy to some extent the need for the formation of new units and the protection of the state border. It will also make it possible to avoid the announcement of mobilization in russia.
ISW suggests that the russian federation can use the provisions of the agreement concluded with the DPRK to legally justify sending North Korean troops to the front line.
Earlier, ISW analysts reported that a small contingent of North Korean servicemen was operating in the area of occupied Donetsk.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff meeting that North Korea's involvement in the war against Ukraine is planned for the fall and winter of this year.
The day before that, the American publication The Washington Post wrote that several thousand North Korean soldiers are finishing training on the territory of the russian federation.
And yesterday, October 15, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, said that initially military personnel from the DPRK could be sent to the Kursk Oblast.
