President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the aggressor country of russia intends to use military personnel from North Korea (DPRK) in the war against Ukraine in the fall or winter of this year.
This is stated in Zelenskyy's address, the text of which is provided by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The President announced that today, October 14, he held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, at which one of the main topics was the report of representatives of the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense.
"Among the main ones was the intelligence report <...> regarding the intentions of the russians for the fall and winter. Everything is quite detailed. In fact, the inclusion of North Korea in the war," the President said.
He also said that russia's relations with a number of countries that "invest in prolonging the war" and the foreign policy direction of Ukraine were also discussed at the meeting of the Staff.
"Whoever helps russia, we will react as harshly as necessary to protect Ukraine. Our work with partners will be appropriate so that russian intentions do not work," Zelenskyy added.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier in October, South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said that the DPRK is likely to send its troops to Ukraine to support the russian occupation army.
And on October 12, The Washington Post wrote, citing an unnamed representative of Ukrainian intelligence, that russia is preparing several thousand North Korean soldiers to be sent to the front in Ukraine.
