Several thousand soldiers from North Korea are currently undergoing training in the aggressor country of russia, and by the end of the year they may be transferred to the front in Ukraine.
The Washington Post writes about this with reference to a representative of Ukrainian military intelligence.
According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, North Korean officers are already in the territory of Ukraine, which was occupied by the russian federation, to monitor russian troops and study the battlefield. At the same time, the Ukrainian military has not yet encountered the military from the DPRK at the front.
A Ukrainian intelligence official said that it is unclear where North Korean combat units will be deployed on the Ukrainian front. Moscow could use them in the border regions of russia, freeing up russian troops to conduct hostilities in Ukraine, he noted.
"It could have a significant impact. Especially if we’re talking about freeing up reserves within the territory of the Russian Federation itself," the interlocutor of the publication added.
