The prosecutor's office informed an 18-year-old resident of Dnipro that he was suspected of murdering linguist and professor Iryna Farion.
Deputy Prosecutor General Anton Voytenko announced this at a press conference, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to him, the prosecutor's office served him with the suspicion under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code.
The prosecutor's office also submitted a motion to the court to take the guy into custody.
The preventive measure will be considered by the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv at 1:00 p.m.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, regarding the arrest of the suspect in the murder of the former member of the Verkhovna Rada, linguist Iryna Farion, noted that this audacious and terrible crime was clearly planned, regardless of the young age of the person involved.
A suspect in the murder of linguist and former MP Iryna Farion was detained in Dnipro.
On July 19, around 7:30 p.m. in Lviv, an unknown person shot Iryna Farion with a firearm on Masaryka Street. As a result of the shooting, Farion received a severe head injury. She was hospitalized at the Saint Panteleimon Hospital, where she was in intensive care for some time. Despite the efforts of doctors, Iryna Farion died three hours after the attempt.
