Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language of the Lviv Polytechnic National University and linguist Iryna Farion died in a hospital.
On Friday, July 19, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi announced this on his Telegram channel.
"It is very unfortunate, but despite all the efforts of the doctors, it was not possible to save Iryna Farion. My sincere condolences to the relatives, friends and students of Iryna Dmitrivna. The search for the attacker is still ongoing," Kozytskyi wrote.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 19 at around 7:30 p.m., an unknown man shot Iryna Farion, professor of the Ukrainian Language Department of the Lviv Polytechnic National University and linguist, with a firearm.
Farion was taken to an intensive care unit. She was in critical condition.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he promptly receives information about the progress of the investigation into the attack on Farion.
