Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko believes that the suspect decided to kill former Verkhovna Rada member, linguist Iryna Farion as the most vulnerable on his list, which also included Verkhovna Rada member from the Servant of the People faction Maksym Buzhanskyi.
Klymenko said this during a briefing on the murder of Farion, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I think she was the most defenseless among all. We showed you his search sign. I can reveal one name to you: the next person he looked at is Maks Buzhanskyi."
Klymenko did not name others who were on the "candidate list" of the suspect in Farion's murder.
In turn, Buzhanskyi has already reacted to this information, in particular in his Telegram channel, he wrote that he is infinitely grateful to the National Police and all those involved in the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion, and owes them his life.
The MP also expressed hope that the investigation will identify all those involved in this crime, and the killers of Farion, the executors and organizers, will receive the deserved punishment.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the suspect in the murder of Farion was detained in Dnipro.
Klymenko said that the police have enough evidence to claim that it was the detainee who shot the linguist. About the person involved, Klymenko said that he is 18 years old, lives in Dnipro, while preparing for the crime, he rented at least three apartments in Lviv. According to Klymenko, the investigation is inclined to the opinion that the shooter is only an executor.
The head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, regarding the arrest of the suspect in Farion's murder, noted that this audacious and terrible crime was clearly planned, despite the young age of the person involved.
On July 19, around 7:30 p.m., an unknown man shot Farion with a firearm in Lviv, Farion died in the hospital that evening.
