The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) allowed DVL Telecom, which is part of the investment company NJJ Capital of French billionaire Xavier Niel, to buy the Ukrainian assets of Turkcell (Turkey), in particular the mobile operator lifecell (former Astelit).
This is stated in the decisions of the AMCU, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, the AMCU granted permission for DVL Telecom to acquire control over Global Bilgi, Lifecell and Ukrtower limited liability companies.
Permission was also granted for concerted actions in the form of the non-competition clause provided for in section 11 of the agreement for the purchase and sale of shares in the companies of the Lifecell group, concluded between the companies Lifecell Ventures B.V., Global Bilgi Pazarlama Danismanlik ve Cagri Servisi Hizmetleri A.S., Kule Hizmet ve Isletmecilik A.S. and NJJ Capital from December 29, 2023, for a period of 2 years.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 16, the arrest of 19.8% of the corporate rights of the mobile operator lifecell was canceled.
Niel's NJJ Capital plans to merge the national operator of fixed communications and digital services, Datagrup-Volia (Kyiv) and lifecell.
Earlier, the AMCU allowed DVL Telecom, which is part of Niel's NJJ Capital, to buy Datagrup-Volia.
In January, Niel said that NJJ Capital agreed to pay USD 500 million for the Ukrainian units of the Turkcell company, in particular, for the lifecell company.
In October, the court arrested all corporate rights in Ukraine belonging to sanctioned russian oligarchs Mikhail Fridman, Petr Aven and Andrey Kosogov.
In particular, the court arrested 47.85% of the shares of PrJSC Kyivstar and 19.8% of the authorized capital of the mobile operator lifecell.
