Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a report of suspicion is being prepared for the person detained in the murder of Iryna Farion. He faces from 7 to 15 years of imprisonment. The detainee is 18 years old and he may be released as early as 2031.
This was announced by the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
He is being charged with premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
It is known that while preparing for the crime, he rented at least three apartments in Lviv.
It was possible to establish his identity based on a photo from a smart video surveillance camera. He was detained in the city of Dnipro at his place of residence.
Investigations are ongoing. All circumstances are established.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region under the operational support of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko told the details of the detention of the suspect in the murder of the former member of the Verkhovna Rada, linguist Iryna Farion, in Dnipro. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the suspect in Farion's murder was detained in Dnipro.
On July 19, around 7:30 p.m., an unknown man shot Farion with a firearm in Lviv, Farion died in the hospital that evening.
