Donors freeze almost USD 100 million intended for Biden's election campaign

Several of the largest donors to the U.S. Democratic Party have simultaneously warned that they intend to stop the transfer of USD 90 million in donations if the current president, Joe Biden, takes part in the elections.

The New York Times (U.S.) has reported this with reference to its own sources.

According to two unnamed interlocutors, the donors informed the largest pro-Biden election headquarters, Future Forward, about the intention to freeze the transfer of donations.

The reason for this was the reluctance of donors to see Biden as a participant in the presidential race after his failed debate with Donald Trump.

Frozen contributions contain multiple amounts with eight zeros. The decision to freeze them is one of the most concrete examples of the consequences of Biden's poor performance at the debate.

One of the donors told the publication that after the debate, Future Forward repeatedly approached him with an offer to contribute, but he and his friends refrained.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a poll conducted by the CNN channel during the Biden-Trump debate showed that only a third of voters support the current U.S. leader.

Recall that Biden's speech at the debate with Trump caused concern in the ranks of the Democrats. Later, they talked about replacing Biden with another candidate.

Besides, earlier, a group of influential Democrats wrote an open letter to Biden urging him to withdraw from the presidential race.
