The Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, discussed with the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey, Şeref Malkoç, a possible visit by Malkoç to the aggressor state of russia to check the observance of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs).
The ombudsman reported this in his Telegram channel.
Lubinets noted that Malkoç oversees the protection of the rights of Ukrainian children in Turkey who suffered from russian aggression. The ombudsmen discussed strengthening joint work with UNICEF, as well as mechanisms for the return of Ukrainian civilian hostages.
"The meeting was also attended by Nariman Djelal, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, who have been detained by the russians since 2021. He shared his thoughts with the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey, as a person who knows about the russian captivity firsthand. In addition, they discussed the possible visit of Mr. Malkoç to the territory of russia in order to monitor the observance of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war," Lubinets wrote.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 5, Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin stated that during the full-scale war, the occupiers executed at least 61 Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Previously, Ukrainians were urged not to publicly disseminate information about prisoners.
It will be recalled that in March, Turkey expressed its readiness to hold a summit on the settlement of the war, if russia and Ukraine agree to it.
