Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) prevented four terrorist attacks in Kyiv, which were supposed to take place on May 9. As a result of a special operation in the capital, agents of the russian GRU, who installed explosive devices in the construction hypermarkets of a well-known chain and near one of the cafes, were arrested.
This is stated in the notification of the SSU.
Thus, according to information available in the SSU, improvised explosive devices were disguised in tea packages. They consisted of a timer, a detonator and plastic explosives with an incendiary mixture that was supposed to cause large-scale fires.

According to the plan of the russian special services, the explosives were to be detonated during the peak hours of hypermarkets in order to cause maximum damage to the civilian population. In addition, it was planned to place it among flammable materials - so that such a fire could not be extinguished quickly.
Another terrorist attack was supposed to take place near a popular Kyiv cafe. Russian agents wanted to plant explosive devices in a car parked nearby.
The SSU emphasizes that in this way the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the russian federation (GRU) wanted to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, as well as send a signal on May 9, a symbolic day for them, about the alleged presence of a russian underground in Kyiv, which is waiting for the arrival of the "russian world".
"By planning these terrorist attacks, the russian special services once again demonstrated their criminal nature. We worked to anticipate and foiled the enemy's plans in time. Every step of the criminals is documented - they will receive a well-deserved punishment. Like everyone who tries to work for the benefit of the russian federation. Symbolically, that the dates, to which the russians want to time their terrorist attacks, are gradually becoming a symbol of the failure of their special services," said SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk.
The counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine established that the curator of the terrorist attacks in the russian federation was Yuriy Sizov, an employee of the GRU, serving in military unit No. 92154.
He personally gave instructions to recruited agents and even recorded video instructions for installing an explosive device in one of the stores of the same chain in the Moscow Oblast.

The SSU monitored his activities for a long time and documented the agents' criminal actions step by step.
In particular, Yuriy Sizov was also responsible for conducting sabotage in Ukraine, which was supposed to take place in the Lviv Region in February 2024. At that time, the SSU also acted in advance and prevented the explosions.
So far, the Security Service of Ukraine has established the entire chain of this network, including intelligence and combat groups, smugglers who delivered explosives from the territory of the russian federation, as well as the direct perpetrators of the terrorist attack: they were caught red-handed when they installed explosive devices in the third hypermarket.

At present, the detainees have been served with suspicion in accordance with the crimes committed by them, in particular, under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Article 111 (treason);
- Article 113 (sabotage);
- Article 258 (terrorist act).
They face life imprisonment.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the SSU exposed agents of the FSB of the russian federation who were preparing the assassination of Zelenskyy and other representatives of the state's top military and political leadership. The network, whose activities were managed by the FSB from Moscow, included two State Security Department colonels who "leaked" secret information to the russian federation.
For the attacks, it was planned to use a combination of drone attacks and missile strikes on objects where high-ranking Ukrainian officials were supposed to be.
