Born on July 21, 1972 in the Kyiv Region.
He spent the summer of 1981 in the village of Novaya Bryan in the Buryat ASSR (awaiting trial) where his father, dissident Vasyl Lisovyi, was in exile. There, his mother, Vira Lisova, acted as a defense attorney in her husband's case. In the summer of 1982, the family returned to Buryatia and lived in exile in the village of Ilka for 2 years, where Vasyl Lisovyi worked as a turner, his sister graduated from high school, and Oksen graduated from the 3rd and 4th grades of school.
Education
He graduated from the Reshetylov Art School of Folk Crafts (specialty "artist-ceramicist"), the Kyiv State Institute of Culture (specialty "library and information systems").
Career
He worked as a teacher at the Kyiv-Mohyla Collegium, a fencing coach and supported the activities of the Sich public youth organization, in a management position in the General Directorate of OJSC Ukrtelecom.
Since 2010 - Director of the National Center "Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine".
September 2020 - together with the President of the Small Academy of Sciences Stanislav Dovhyi, he initiated the establishment of the first Museum of Science in Ukraine.
Author of over 250 scientific publications and 25 author's scientific publications.
With the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he volunteered to the front as part of the 95th separate airborne assault brigade. At the same time, he continues to perform the duties of the Director of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine remotely.
March 21, 2023 - the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Oksen Lisovyi Minister of Education and Science.
Awards
January 22, 2021 - Honored Educator of Ukraine - for significant personal contribution to state building, strengthening national security, socio-economic, scientific and technical, cultural and educational development of the Ukrainian state, significant labor achievements, many years of conscientious work.

Criticism
The newly appointed Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, was accused of academic plagiarism.
Minister Lisovyi stated that the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine should become part of the country's defense strategy.
