SBI finds who is to blame for death of Zaluzhnyi’s assistant

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have completed a pre-trial investigation against an officer from the Administration of Assistants to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who presented grenades to his deceased colleague Hennadii Chastiakov.

It was reported on the website of the department.

"A military man, who at the first stage of the pre-trial investigation was notified of suspicion of illegal distribution of military supplies (Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), on that tragic day handed over to the deceased an explosive "gift" with grenades for his birthday. At the same time, he did not warn his colleague about the authenticity of grenades and did not make sure that he and others present in the office understood that he was giving explosive devices," the department notes.

As a result, during the unpacking of the "gift" at home, one of the grenades exploded in the hands of Chastiakov, who was sure that these were souvenir cups. From his injuries, he died on the spot, and his minor son received grievous bodily harm.

"The person involved was notified of a change in the previously reported suspicion. He is suspected of stealing, appropriating and distributing ammunition, killing by negligence and causing serious bodily harm by negligence (Part 4 of Article 410, Part 1 of Article 263, Part 1 of Article 119, Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of articles provides for a sentence of imprisonment for up to 15 years," the SBI said.

As previously reported, the SBI considers an accident the main version of the death of the assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Hennadii Chastiakov, but also checked the version of the murder by order of the special services of the russian federation.
