The volume of private remittances in 2023 decreased by 7.8% and amounted to USD 11.6 billion.
This follows from a statement by NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The wages that Ukrainians receive from abroad decreased slightly - by 2.7%; at the same time, other private transfers that came through official channels decreased by 20.4%.
In total, formal channels sent 12.7% fewer remittances than in 2022, while the flow through informal channels decreased by only 1.3% compared to 2022.
In December 2023, the volume of remittances decreased by 6.1% and amounted to USD 1.0 billion.
The salary that Ukrainians receive from abroad was at the level of 2022 (increased by 0.3%); other private transfers received through official channels decreased by 5.1%.
Overall, formal channels sent 2.7% fewer remittances than in December 2022, while the flow through informal channels decreased by 10.7% compared to December 2022.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2021, the volume of money transfers to Ukraine increased by 25.4% to USD 15.026 billion compared to 2020.
In 2020, the volume of remittances increased by 1.7% to a record USD 12.1 billion.
