Volume of private money remittances down 1.5% to USD 976 million in November

In November, the volume of private money remittances decreased by 1.5% and amounted to USD 976 million.

This is evidenced by NBU data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Wages received by Ukrainians from abroad increased by 2.1%, while other private remittances received through official channels decreased by 5.7%.

In total, 2.2% fewer remittances were sent through official channels than in November last year, while the flow through informal channels was almost at the last year level (decreased by 0.7%).

In total, from January to November 2023, the volume of remittances decreased by 7.5%, including: net wages - by 10.0%, private remittances - by 2.1%.

Net borrowing from foreign countries (total balance of current account and capital account) was USD 1.5 billion (net lending was USD 0.4 billion in November 2022).

In total, for the eleven months of 2023, net borrowing from foreign countries was USD 8.8 billion; in the corresponding period last year, net lending was USD 7.8 billion.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in October, the volume of private money remittances decreased by 4.6% and amounted to USD 936 million.

In 2021, the volume of money remittances to Ukraine increased by 25.4% to USD 15.026 billion compared to 2020.

In 2020, the volume of remittances increased by 1.7% to a record USD 12.1 billion.
