The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the U.S. Embassy have agreed on a plan for joint physical inspections of weapons provided by American partners.

The Ministry of Defense announced this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The document details exactly how the supervision of American equipment will take place. It was developed in accordance with advanced monitoring of the final use of weapons," the report said.

The American side at the meeting was represented by employees of the Office of Defense Cooperation of the U.S. Embassy and the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Defense, the Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Defense Yurii Dzhyhyr.

"Certain types of missiles, launchers, UAVs and night vision devices provided by American partners are made using sensitive technologies, so they require careful control and special storage conditions. Therefore, the procedure for joint monitoring has been agreed on these types of weapons," said Dzhyhyr.

According to the procedure, Ukrainian and American inspectors will check three main positions: serial number, technical condition and conditions of proper storage (safety and security).

The parties also set a number of criteria by which experts will provide conclusions on the conditions for the transfer, protection, storage and use of weapons.

The purpose of such monitoring is to ensure the requirements of the American government established for all recipient states of such weapons.

Team checks will be carried out by specially trained American and Ukrainian specialists - they will continue on a regular basis throughout 2024.
