The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the US Embassy agreed on expanded monitoring of the use of American weapons.
This was announced by the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Expanded monitoring of the end use of weapons involves regular inventories, joint physical inspections with partners and special inspections. Now the Ministry of Defense will provide additional transparency regarding the storage and use of foreign weapons. Certain types of missiles, launchers, UAVs and night vision devices transferred by American partners require careful monitoring and special storage conditions," the message reads.
It is noted that a joint concept was signed with the Department of Defense Cooperation of the US Embassy for the implementation of this task, which was initiated by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"Monitoring the end-use of defense goods provided by the United States is a joint responsibility of the partner country and the United States Government," the concept says.
According to the agreement, officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine undergo training on the use of special electronic devices and conduct inventories at arsenals, bases, and warehouses throughout Ukraine. From now on, the Ministry of Defense will carry out the necessary supervision of the availability, accounting and compliance with the proper storage conditions with foreign partners.
US specialists will regularly participate in joint field inspections and advise Ukrainian partners on the necessary issues.
"All the countries that provide us with weapons will be sure that these weapons will not fall into the wrong hands, that they are controlled exclusively by the government, and that they are used in a legal way. For its part, Ukraine is doing its best for this. It's time to strengthen the reputation of our state, turning her into an initiator and a model of transparency and accountability," said Deputy Minister of Defense Yurii Dzhyhyr.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the US Ministry of Defense denied the information that since the start of Israel's war against Hamas, supplies of necessary ammunition to Ukraine have dropped by 30%.
