Russian special services may be behind attack on Kyivstar - SSU

Russian special services may be behind the hacker attack on Kyivstar mobile operator.

Ukrainian News Agency was told about this by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).

"One of the versions currently being investigated by SSU investigators is that the special services of the russian federation may be behind this hacker attack," the SSU said.

The Security Service of Ukraine has opened criminal proceedings on the fact of a cyber attack on Kyivstar.

The case is opened under eight articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In particular, these are: Article 361 (unauthorized interference in the work of information (automated), electronic communication, information and communication systems, electronic communication networks); Article 361-1 (creation for the purpose of illegal use, distribution or sale of malicious software or technical means, as well as their distribution or sale); Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine); Article 111 (treason); Article 113 (sabotage); Article 437 (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging an aggressive war); Article 438 (violation of laws and customs of war); Article 255 (creation, management of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it).

Immediately after the disruption in the work of Kyivstar, an operative-investigative group of the SSU, which documents all the circumstances of the attack, went to the company's offices.

In addition, cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine are working at the scene of the incident, providing assistance to Kyivstar employees and coordinating the efforts of all state institutions to restore the network as soon as possible.
