Ukrainian agricultural enterprises have sown almost 6 million hectares with winter crops, of which 1,164,000 hectares were planted with winter rapeseed, 4,798,000 hectares with winter cereals (4,162,000 hectares with wheat, 559,000 hectares with barley, 77,200 hectares with rye).
This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Agricultural producers of all regions of Ukraine have finished sowing winter rapeseed.
Last week, farmers sowed 193,200 hectares of winter cereals.
"Indicators of seeded winter grains are close to last year. The leader in wheat sowing is the Odesa Region (486,000 hectares), Dnipropetrovsk Region (474,200 hectares) and Mykolaiv Region (325,000 hectares). Rye was most sown in the Volyn Region (15,000 hectares), Rivne Region (12,400 hectares) and Chernihiv Region (12,000 hectares). The largest barley areas are in the Odesa Region (154,000 hectares) and Mykolaiv Region (112,000 hectares),” the statement reads.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, farmers started sowing winter crops at the beginning of September.
