The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue to defend in the east and south of Ukraine and also advance on the Melitopol and Bakhmut Axes.
Over the past 24 hours, a total of 69 combat clashes took place at the front; the General Staff reported this in the morning briefing on October 18.
In the zone of responsibility of the North Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Volyn and Polisskyi Axes, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi Axes, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, carries out active sabotage activities, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod Oblast.
In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Kupiyansk Axis, Ukrainian soldiers repelled more than 15 enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Kyslivka settlements of the Kharkiv Region and another nine attacks near Nadiya in the Luhansk region.
The russians did not conduct offensive (assault) actions on the Lyman Axis.
On the Bakhmut Axis, the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to restore their lost position near Klishchiyivka, Donetsk Region. The defense forces of Ukraine continue their assault south of Bakhmut, inflict losses on the enemy in terms of manpower and equipment, and secure themselves at the achieved boundaries.
In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Operational and Strategic Troops Group in the Avdiyivka Axis, the enemy does not stop trying to surround Avdiyivka. Five attacks were repelled here.
On the Marinka and Shakhtarsk Axes, the AFU repelled more than 20 attacks by the occupiers in the area of Mariyinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk Region, as well as two attacks south of Zolota Nyva and south of Prechystivka in the Donetsk Region.
In the Zaporizhzhia Axis, the russians tried to restore their lost position southwest of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia Region but were unsuccessful.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational and Strategic Troops Group in the Kherson Axis, Ukrainian defenders are conducting a counter-battery fight, inflicting fire damage on the enemy's rear.
"The defense forces of Ukraine are continuing their offensive operation on the Melitopol Axis, having partial success south of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia Region. Our soldiers are inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line," the General Staff emphasized.
During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces made 15 strikes on areas where the enemy's personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated and three strikes on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems.
Units of the missile forces hit five control points, an area where personnel, weapons, and military equipment are concentrated, an ammunition depot, and an artillery device of the russians.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Tuesday, October 17, the AFU launched missile attacks on airports in temporarily occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk.
During the attack, the Ukrainian military used American ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles for the first time.
