On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the memory of Ukrainian soldiers who gave their lives defending their homeland.
This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.
Thus, the head of state laid flowers at the Wall of Memory of Fallen Defenders of Ukraine on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv.
Soldiers of the honor guard placed a wreath with flowers from the Ukrainian people at the Wall of Memory.
The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Head of the Office of the President Andrii Yermak, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksii Danilov, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi, representatives of the government and military command.
Those present honored the memory of fallen heroes with a moment of silence.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, today, October 1, is the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians on the occasion of the holiday.
