Farmers sow 1.2 million hectares of winter crops

Agricultural enterprises have sown 1,155,000 hectares of winter crops, of which 905,900 hectares of winter rapeseeds and 249,000 hectares of winter grain (wheat - 228,600 hectares, barley - 10,800 hectares, and rye - 9,500 hectares).

This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

During the previous week, 251,000 hectares of winter crops were sown for grain.

According to the report, farmers of the Volyn, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Chernivtsi Regions have completed sowing of winter rapeseeds.

Farmers of the Sumy Region have sown the most of winter grains - 25,900 hectares or 50% of the forecast, and those of the Dnipropetrovsk Region -  the most of winter rapeseeds - 93,400 hectares or 74.4% of the forecast.

As the Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early September, farmers began sowing winter crops.
