The Verkhovna Rada has received a letter of resignation on his own initiative from the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine received from Oleksandr Tkachenko a letter of resignation as the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine on his own initiative," he said.
Stefanchuk assured that the letter of resignation will be considered at the next plenary meeting.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in an evening address on July 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he asked Prime-Minister Denys Shmyhal to consider replacing the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine. At the same time, Zelenskyy noted that he suggested that Shmyhal find extra-budgetary funds for important cultural projects.
Tkachenko said on July 20 in the evening that he submitted his letter of resignation "due to a wave of misunderstandings about the importance of culture during the war."
