AFU advancing on 2 axes, succeeding near Bakhmut – General Staff

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue to advance on two fronts and are succeeding near Bakhmut and in the Zaporizhzhia Region.

This follows from a statement by the spokesperson for the General Staff of the AFU, Andrii Kovaliov, on the telethon air.

The Ukrainian military continues to press the enemy in the Melitopol, Berdiansk, and Bakhmut axes.

Kovaliov noted that in the Zaporizhzhia Region, Ukrainian soldiers are successful in two areas near the city of Orikhiv.

"On the Novodanylivka – Shyroka Balka and Nova Tokmachka – Novopokrovka axes, they were successful; they are entrenched at the reached boundaries. They inflict fire damage with artillery on the identified enemy targets, carry out counter-battery countermeasures," he said.

Our troops also continue to conduct offensive operations north and south of Bakhmut. According to the spokesperson, on the southern flank, the AFU had partial success and are consolidating their positions.

At the same time, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the offensive of the occupiers on the Kupiyansk, Lyman, Avdiyivka, and Mariyinka axes. Russian troops are trying to break through the defense of the AFU and withdraw reserves, but our fighters repulse the attacks.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said that the Ukrainian military took control of the dominant heights around Bakhmut in the Donetsk Region.
