Ukraine rose to the 25th place in the rating of the Worldsteel international association by the volume of steel produced in the first five months of 2023.
This is stated in the message of the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to the statement, according to the results of production in the first five months of 2023, Ukraine took the 25th position among 64 steel-producing countries with a result of 2.39 million tons, down 43.7% year over year.
China traditionally took the first place: Chinese metallurgists smelted 444.6 million tons, up 1.6% year over year.
China's share in world steel production is 56.6%.
Second place belongs to India (production increased by 5.7% to 56.4 million tons), third place to Japan (decrease by 5.3% to 36.5 million tons), fourth place to the United States (decrease by 3.4% to 33.1 million tons), the fifth - Russia (increased by 1.9% to 32.1 million tons), the sixth - South Korea (decreased by 0.4% to 28.1 million tons), the seventh - Germany (decreased by 4.7% to 15.6 million tons), eighth - Brazil (decreased by 8.1% to 13.4 million tons), ninth – Turkiye (decreased by 19.1% to 12.98 million tons), and the tenth - Iran (increased by 2.2% to 12.97 million tons).
World steel production in the first five months of 2023 amounted to 785.96 million tons, down 1.19% year over year.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 24th place in the ranking of the international association Worldsteel in terms of steel production in 2022.
